Hello, world: introducing CMass (and yes, we're in beta)
We're a brand-new team launching CMass in public beta. Here's who we are, why GMass inspired us, and how we're building Gmail mail merge powered by Claude — plus how to tell us what to build next.

Today we're flipping the switch on something we've been pouring ourselves into: CMass, a mail merge and relationship-intelligence tool that lives right inside Gmail and is powered by Claude. We're brand new, we're in public beta, and we could not be more excited to finally put this in front of real people.
A launch post is supposed to be confident and polished. This one is honest instead: we're early, we're learning, and we're building this in the open with the people who use it. So here's the real story of why CMass exists and where we hope to take it.
GMass inspired us — genuinely
We didn't start with a grudge against any existing product. We started as fans. GMass showed an entire category of people that you don't need a heavyweight sales platform to run thoughtful, personalized email campaigns — you can do it right inside the inbox you already live in. That idea is brilliant, and GMass has earned the trust of a huge community by executing it well for years.
So when we say GMass inspired CMass, we mean it as a sincere compliment. We're standing on the shoulders of a product we admire. The question we kept asking ourselves wasn't 'how do we beat them?' It was 'what would we build if we started today, with today's AI, and obsessed over the experience?'
Why we thought we could build something we'd love
Two things gave us conviction. First, the inbox-native mail merge experience can be more modern, more delightful, and more intelligent than what most tools offer today. Second — and this is the big one — Claude changes what a single email can be.
Instead of find-and-replace merge tags that swap in a first name, Claude can read the context you have about a contact and write an opening line that's genuinely specific to that person. It can help you understand a relationship at a glance, surface what to say next, and draft it in your voice. That's not a feature bolted onto mail merge — it's a different way of doing outreach, and it's the heart of what CMass is.
Our north star: every email you send with CMass should feel like you wrote it for one person — because, with Claude's help, you effectively did.
There's room for everyone
We don't see this as a zero-sum fight for a fixed pie. The reality is that the overwhelming majority of people who could benefit from smart, personalized email aren't using any tool like this yet. The market GMass hasn't reached — and the market none of us has reached — is enormous.
That framing matters to how we operate. There's more than enough room for multiple great products to earn someone's business by genuinely helping them hit their goals. We'd rather grow the category and win trust by being useful than win by tearing anyone down. If CMass isn't the right fit for you, we hope you find a tool that is — and if it is the right fit, we intend to earn that every single day.
What 'beta' means for you right now
Being in beta means CMass is real and usable today, and also that it's improving fast. You can install it, import a Google Sheet, write a template with merge tags, turn on Claude-powered personalization, set up follow-ups, and track your results. You can also expect us to ship improvements quickly and to be upfront about rough edges as we smooth them out.
The honest tradeoff of joining early: you get to shape the product. The features we build next will be the ones our first users tell us they need. That's not a marketing line — it's literally how we plan to prioritize.
Please, tell us what you think
This is the part we mean most. We would genuinely love your feedback — what you love, what frustrates you, what's missing, what you wish worked differently. Early feedback is the single most valuable thing you can give a young product, and we read every message.
The fastest ways to reach us are our contact form and email. No feedback is too small, and none is too blunt. If something's broken or annoying, we want to hear it.
Thank you for being here at the very beginning. We're a small team with big intentions, we're huge fans of the people who paved the way before us, and we're betting that a more intelligent, more human way to send email is worth building. We can't wait to build it with you.
