Send a campaign as a reply to an existing thread

Land your campaign inside your last conversation with each recipient so it reads as a personal follow-up — with an automatic fallback to a new email for fresh contacts.

By default, every campaign email starts a brand-new thread. But if you've emailed some of your recipients before, you can have CMass deliver the campaign as a reply inside your existing conversation with each of them. To the recipient it reads like a natural follow-up rather than a cold blast — and it tends to land better with Gmail, too.

When to use it

Send-as-replies shines for warm outreach: prospects you've spoken with, past customers, or anyone you have prior history with. It's the natural next step as a contact warms up — the first touch starts a thread, and every later campaign lands in that same growing conversation.

How to turn it on

  1. 1Build your campaign as usual on the Recipients and Template tabs
  2. 2Open the Settings tab
  3. 3Under 'Send As', choose 'Replies — reply to last conversation'
  4. 4Launch the campaign

What CMass does for each recipient

  • Finds your most recent existing thread with that recipient
  • Sends the campaign as a reply inside that thread (keeping its subject so it stays threaded)
  • If there's no prior conversation, sends a normal new email instead — automatically
💡 Because Gmail threads on the subject line, a reply keeps the original thread's subject. Your campaign's subject line is used only for recipients who get a fresh new email.
Pair it with follow-ups: Follow-up stages already thread into the same conversation. Combined with send-as-replies, your entire outreach to a warm contact stays in one tidy thread.
